Ramona LaVerna Abel

Ramona La Verna (nee Born) Bruni Abel of Juneau passed away peacefully in her sleep September 13, 2015. Ramona was the daughter of William and Lillian (Riemer) Born. She was born near Kingston on August 26, 1921. She attended various country schools: Brandon, Fairwater, and Burnett. She graduated from Horicon High School in 1940. She also attended classes at Moraine Technical College of Fond du Lac. Ramona worked at Schelegals Grocery Store in Clyman before her marriage to Roland Bruni on October 16, 1942 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Oak Grove. They farmed in Clyman Township. Two children were born to this union, Darlene and Leland. Ramona was a 4-H General Leader when her children were involved in 4-H. She was a department superintendent at the Dodge Co. Fair for many years in the arts and crafts building. Ramona also worked part time at Juneau Variety Store, and was a substitute cook for the Dodgeland School District. She also enjoyed being an instructor for adult continued education courses for Moraine Park Technical College. Ramona was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Juneau and it’s Ladies Aid where she had also served as President. On September 24, 1994 Ramona married Hilmer Abel at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Juneau. They lived on a mini farm in the Township of Clyman. She is preceded in death by her parents William and Lillian (Riemer) Born, her first husband Roland Bruni July 1991, her daughter, Darlene (Gordon) Lauersdorf, a brother, Aaron (Beatrice) Born and a grandson, Brett Bruni. She is survived by her loving husband Hilmer Abel, her son, Leland(Mari) Bruni, 5 step children Vernon (Linda)Abel , Christine (David) Gerbitz, Julie(Marvin) Ninmann ,Heidi (Gary) Stark , Lois (David) Wendlandt 5 Grandchildren Shelly(Steve) Coron ,Eric (Michelle) Bruni, Kristy Bruni, Lacy (Dan) Jablonski, Nic (Meghann) Lauersdorf, 7 Step Grandchildren Paul Abel, Justin (Jodi) Ninmann, Adam (Katie) Ninmann , Samantha (Andy) Freber, Matthew Stark, Kyle (Jessica) Wendlandt , Jordan(Megan) Wendlandt and 8 Great Grandchildren Abigail and Gordon Lauersdorf, Olivia Coron, Sabrina Stark, Cassidy and Riley Ninmann, Allegra Freber, and Harlow Ninmann. Visitation Thursday September 17, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at the Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home-Juneau and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Church. Rev.’s Paul Hirsch and Paul Schupmann will officiate. Interment Juneau City Cemetery. Memorials to St. John’s organ fund will be appreciated.
