John Henry Pitzlin

John H. Pitzlin, Sr. of Juneau passed away Friday October 24 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1940 the son of Ferdinand and Lilly {nee Ulbricht} Pitzlin. He attended high school in Juneau and worked at Maysteel as a press brake operator for 39 years and at Helgeson in Hartford for 7 years. John served as a supervisor for the Township of Oak Grove for 19 years, he was a life time member of Juneau Rod and Gun Club and a member of Maysteel Quarter-Century Club. He was a member of St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church where he was a past church Elder, a member of the finance committee, and a greeter. John enjoyed hunting with his brothers and was happiest when his sons and grandchildren could join him. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and liked doing his yard work. He enjoyed wood working while listening to polka music. He enjoyed baking, cooking, and canning. With his friends he enjoyed playing cards, with his family splitting wood and enjoyed the many family get-togethers. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara {nee Klas} of 54 years, his loving children Deborah Buege of Lomira, Jeffrey Pitzlin of Juneau, Karla Lockwood of Fond du Lac, James Pitzlin of Burnett, John Pitzlin, Jr. of Juneau and Joseph (Cheryl) Pitzlin of Juneau, his seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild and one great-grandchild “on the way”. He is also survived by his two brothers Ken (Donna) Pitzlin of Arizona and Dave (JoEllen) Pitzlin of Beaver Dam, and his sisters-in-law Marion Pitzlin and Lovilla Pitzlin. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. John is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Glenn and Lewis, and his sisters June (Leslie) Hageman and Mae (Clifford) Hodgson and Hazel Pitzlin. Visitations are Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Juneau from 4-8 PM and Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 10-11 AM. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM at church. Rev. Paul Schupmann will officiate at church. Interment at St. John’s Church Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rev. Paul Hirsch and Rev. Paul Schupmann for their compassion and ministry and to the BDCH Hospice Team for their loving care. Memorials to St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church will be appreciated.
