Florence E. Splan

Florence E. Splan, “Grandma Flo”, of Iron Ridge, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Cudahy on October 21, 1930, the daughter of Joseph and Eva (nee Muszynski) Pendzich. She met the love of her life, Norman C. Splan, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on November 29, 1952. They resided in South Milwaukee until 1967, when the family settled in Iron Ridge. Florence was employed as a painter at Broan Mfg. of Hartford and John Deere in Horicon. She loved polka dancing, gardening, bingo, but above all she adored time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Florence is preceded in death by her husband Norman in 1996, eight brothers Joseph (Betty), Edward (Jane), Stanley (Sophie), Richard, Wally (Evelyn), John, Benny (Marge) and Ralph Pendzich, three sisters, Mary (John) Piastowski, Alice (Daniel) Lentz, Ester (Edie) Kremis, and one brother-in-law Orlin Splan. She is survived by her children Bradley (Susan) Splan of Burlington, Constance Carpenter of Puerto Rico, Jason (Cheryl) Splan of Iron Ridge, Laura (Daniel) Maas of Lebanon, WI, Ellen (Randy) Zubke of Granbury, TX and Tracy Neu of Iron Ridge, her grandchildren Travis (special friend Adrianne Shriver) Splan, Brian Splan (US Navy deployed), Kali Splan, Daniel Carpenter (special friend Sara Tompkins), Joseph Carpenter (special friend Kerry Bradshaw), Jacob (Stephanie) Splan, Jonathan Splan, Jarod Splan, Matthew Maas, Amanda (Shane) Donegon, Dustin Zubke, Brandon Zubke, Kevin Neu (special friend Stephanie Williams), Austin Neu and Jimmy Neu, great-grandchild Braiden Splan, sisters-in-law Joyce Pendzich, Lorraine Pendzich and Judy Splan, all of Milwaukee. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 19 from 12 Noon until 2 PM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Neosho. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2 PM at the Church. Rev. Jerry Rinzel will officiate. Interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home is serving the family.
